Having grown up in the Adirondacks, I jumped at the opportunity to make this map soon after the US Geological Survey released one-meter elevation data of the High Peaks region. The map includes Mount Marcy, the higest peak in New York State, and 37 other peaks over 4,000 feet that comprise the Adirondack 46er list.

This 3D perspective map reveals a rugged landscape crisscrossed by a network of trails leading to enticing destinations. Much of the area is wilderness. My hope is that it will inspire you to go hiking—but be sure to bring an actual topographic map with you while out on the trails.
